Catholics and Protestants

These beliefs involve a special kind of religious nuttery.  At least with major religions, they seem to have something decent to fight about (like whether Christ was the son of God), but all Catholics and Protestants really have to argue about is whether to support Celtic or Rangers.  Give it up guys, Scottish football is crap anyway – who cares?!

Next, there is ‘transubstantiation’ – Catholics believe that when, at Communion, you eat the wafer and drink the wine, that you are actually eating Christ’s flesh and drinking his blood...  Steady on!

As we know a lot of fighting has gone on in Northern Ireland, between Catholics and Protestants.  But it is not religion to blame here.  Rather, the dispute (as with many ‘religious’ conflicts) is about land.  The Irish believe that the Protestant Northern Irish should not be there, and that all of Ireland belongs to the Irish.  It just happens to be the case that the Irish are Catholics and the Northern Irish, generally, are Protestants.   Irish Catholics would want the opposing faction out, whether they were Seventh-Day Adventists, Methodists, Baptists, or any other denomination, or religion for that matter.  Are they right to want this, and demand this?  Is it right to use violence to achieve this goal?  MG leaves this to the reader to decide...At least some progress seems to have been made.
